Well the weather may not be too great, but the Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe promises to brighten things up as the Summer Season kicks off this week.With sizzling summertime entertainment nearly every day for locals and holidaymakers alike, the line-up over July and August includes Arthur Smith, Abba Mania, Joe Pasquale, Jimmy Tarbuck, SunWest Festival, One Night of Elvis, One Night in Vegas, Summer Soul Stice, Summer Sunday Theatre and much, much more. Chas & Dave make a welcome return to Ilfracombe this Friday evening for a good old cockney knees up. The show will start with a few stories and unplugged music of the past, and will end with the plugged-in music of now so get ready to sing along to songs including Gertcha, Rabbit and Snooker Loopy Chas & Dave write and record exceptionally witty songs about life in London; they perform with a strong affection for all things English reminiscent of many of the great Music Hall artists of the past. In their case , however, the musical accompaniment to their sharply observant material was neither rock nor punk but solid, no-nonsense Rock'N'Roll which has been their background and inspiration. Their proudly cockney vocals and exuberant good humour, blended with their love for genuine Rock'n'Roll make this a show not to be missed.
