A WELCOMBE glass artist has won an award recognising women who have set up their own businesses in rural areas of Devon.Sue Martin of Welcombe Glass Art was given the award for the most developed business - just 18 months after starting out. Sue, who designs and makes all her own fused and flame worked glassware from her own workshop, has developed spectacular dishes, bowls, tiles and a range of jewellery glass beads, necklaces and bracelets."I was thrilled to win an award; when I started the business, I had no idea it would be this successful, it was just something I enjoyed doing."Torrington craft shop, 14 The Gallery, also won a Devon Women and Micro-enterprise award - for most inspirational group.Sue will be demonstrating her work at the shop as part of the popular Art Trek event from June 19-22.For a full list of artists involved in Art Trek, visit: www.northdevonfestival.org.uk
