American singer Judy Cook at The George Hotel on Sunday, March 16.
SHAMMICK Abroad presents renowned American singer Judy Cook at The George Hotel in South Molton on Sunday (March 16).
This fine singer, born in Virginia, now living in nearby Maryland, has a powerful voice, a deep respect for traditional songs, and a great sense of humour.
Regularly touring throughout the States and the UK, she is acknowledged on both sides of the pond for her ability to draw people into the stories that she sings about.
Her skilful use of phrasing and understanding take people inside the songs, sharing the joys, sorrows, concerns and delights of the unknown poets who wrote them so many years ago, and the people who have been singing them since.
With gospel songs to love songs, and classic ballads to nonsense songs, Judy lifts the spirit and entertains throughout.
The concert starts at 8.30pm, with tickets £7 at the door, in advance from www.wegottickets.com/ShammickAcoustic or from The George on 01769 572514 and Shammick Acoustic on 01271 882366. A concert night supper can also be booked.
