New Coastwise series of talks starts next week in Barnstaple

THERE are still a few places left on the latest of special programmes about life on the local shoreline run by Coastwise North Devon.

The series of 10 weekly sessions at Barnstaple Library starts on Thursday, October 6 with a talk by biologist and broadcaster Tegwyn Harris.

“I can’t think of a better way to launch the programme than to hear from the inspirational Tegwyn talking about plankton, the ocean’s secret army on which everything else depends,” said Paula Ferris of Coastwise.

“We learn a lot during our winter programme, enjoy ourselves and make friends, with the prospect of taking our knowledge to the shore in the summer to share our enthusiasm with others. This summer was particularly busy and successful with more than 1,000 visitors taking part in a dozen or so Shore Safaris, and several popular microscope workshops, our latest initiative.”
