Head of Sixth Form Matthew Newitt reviews the annual Sixth Form Pantomime...

‘It’s behind you!’ And it certainly is now. The Shebbear College Sixth Form pantomime this year was Cinderella and the pupils rose to the occasion brilliantly, writes Matthew Newitt, head of Sixth Form.

A number of clichés did spring to mind during rehearsals, such as ‘it will be all right on the night’, but thankfully lines were learnt and jokes delivered with aplomb.

The college would like to thank all those who attended, as audience participation was essential and greatly added to the convivial atmosphere.

Many of the Sixth Form helped to make it a success both on stage and behind the scenes. William Collins accompanied excellently on the piano, learning pieces at short notice, the light and sound team was equally impressive.

The acting talents of Joe Furber in particular, will be remembered as he had very good comic timing. Sam Westlake and Catherine Kotarski, as Prince Charming and Cinderella, did an excellent job singing through voice issues - throat lozenges were necessary. The infamous dames, Harry Chibbett, Matthew Davey and William Hill, may perhaps be many peoples abiding memory, but the show was a great success.

I was very proud of the Sixth Form and their desire to deliver a memorable show.
