One of the UK's most exciting young tenors, Alfie Boe, performs at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple, as part of North Devon Festival, on June 11.Blackpool born Alfie began his opera singing career when a customer overheard him singing while at his first job on a factory floor. The man happened to work in the music industry and pointed Alfie towards the D'Oyly Carte Touring Opera Company where his journey into opera began.Alfie went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music, The National Opera Studio and The Royal Opera House's Young Artists Programme. While studying at the latter, he was cast in the lead for Baz Luhrmann's production of Puccini's La Bohme and won a Tony award for his Broadway performance.Alfie has now released two critically acclaimed, chart topping albums, Onward and La Passione.
