A showcase of exciting artwork from a host of local artists has opened for its eight week run at Broomhill Art Hotel near Barnstaple

The annual Summer Exhibition by members of North Devon Arts is a popular fixture on the calendar and features a wide range of art with work from with new members exhibiting alongside old favourites.

Established local artist Mike Woollacott is an exhibition regular and said of his interpretations of the North Devon landscape: “I do not have the facility to absorb the images and experiences without the process of drawing.”

Back in his studio, Mike paints directly from his drawings in oil, capturing the light, colours and visceral sense of being in the landscape.

In contrast, new member Karen McEndoo’s predominantly abstract work gives her the freedom to explore various themes and ideas, such as the natural forces that shape the planet.

The exhibition is open daily from 11am-4pm, subject to Broomhill events. Visitors are advised to call ahead first on 01271 850262.
