Where does a pantomime villainess go in Barnstaple to get her nails done...?

IT’S not every day an anxious bad fairy pops in to get her nails done, but the House of Beauty at Boutport Street in Barnstaple was happy to help.

Queen’s Theatre panto villainess Niki Evans – aka the Bad Fairy Carabosse – was at her wits end and seriously considering turning the whole of Barnstaple into toads after being unable to get a nail appointment.

The X Factor semi finalist, singer and actress is currently enjoying the Christmas run of Sleeping Beauty, the Queen’s own in-house panto, and of course is keen that her nails look the part too.

“When I was looking for somewhere to do my nails, I must have been in about three different places but there was no room at the inn,” she said.

“Linda at the House of Beauty just said okay and was up at 6am to come in and do them early for me, as we were still rehearsing. They are that good I haven’t had to get them redone yet, either.”

Niki admits she has enjoyed playing the panto baddie and said the experience in Barnstaple so far had been amazing: “It’s the first time I have played Carabosse, so it’s been very different, but I have really enjoyed it, although I do make the children cry – especially the little ones,” she said.

“The theatre has been amazing and I love being there, it is so friendly and such a warm place to be.”

Sleeping Beauty runs until January 4. If you haven’t seen it yet, call the Box Office on 01271 324242 or visit www.northdevontheatres.org.uk.
