North Devon youngsters swap the studio for the countryside in new DVD
A YOUNG musicians’ charity has combined classical music with the unique character of the North Devon countryside in a brand new DVD fund-raising venture.
Around 65 guitarists aged eight-to-21 from the Young Guitarists’ Fund have spent four months filming “In Situ” on location at various local beauty spots including Ilfracombe’s Tunnels Beaches, Arlington Court, Lynmouth and Codden Hill.
On Sunday, the ensemble will be launching the finished film at Barnstaple’s Green Lanes Shopping Centre with a series of special recitals from 11am to 3pm.
“This unique DVD has been shot in beautiful natural settings across North Devon with members of YGF playing their classical guitars on location or ‘In Situ’,” said the charity’s co-founder Des Miles.
“The visual delights of our lovely countryside blend together with the passionate playing of our young guitarists and create a joyful film.
“For those appearing in the DVD, this opportunity presents a wonderful record of their guitar playing in their ‘home’ of North Devon and is a lasting memento to give to family and friends across the world.”
Filming began in July and the sound has been recorded separately at Park School in Barnstaple.
All proceeds from the DVD will go to the Young Guitarist’s Fund (YGF), which was set up in January this year to support students of all styles of guitar playing in North Devon.
