The Overtones have cancelled their Barnstaple concert after the death of their lead singer.

The vocal harmony group was due to play at The Queen’s Theatre in July but has cancelled its summer tour after the death of Timmy Matley last month.

A statement from the band said they wanted to take time out to process the loss of Timmy, and would return with new tour dates later this year.

They said: “This is absolutely not the end of The Overtones, we just want to make sure everything we do next is a celebration of love, friendship and good times that will both comfort and uplift you, not only as a tribute to our dear friend Timmy, but also as a tribute to the amazing eight years we spent together as a band and the memories we have made and shared with you all.”

A statement from The Queen’s Theatre said it would be in touch with everyone who had booked tickets, and sent ‘warm wishes’ to the band.

It said: “Please bear with us as we have a high volume of customers to get through, I’m sure you’ll all join us in sending warm wishes to the boys during this difficult time.”
