Barnstaple-based business Brewing at Home has sponsored Bideford Folk Festival to bring "Fiddlers Bid," the band that has been described as "the best Celtic Fiddle band in the world" to Edgehill College for a concert as part of this summer's festival. Described as a musical tornado, the four fiddlers are joined by a powerhouse of piano, bass, guitar and Scottish harp to create a display of stunning virtuosity. Since 1991 they have travelled from the Shetland Isles to play worldwide, performing at venues such as Melbourne Concert Hall and Sydney Opera House. One tour earned the band a nomination for Best Contemporary Music Presentation at a national music award ceremony in Australia This sponsorship by Brewing at Home has enabled Bideford Folk Festival to successfully apply for further investment from Arts & Business to bring an extra £1,500 to help publicise this popular event and attract people to the area. Festival organiser Jerry Bix said, "This shows how businesses and community organisations can work together to bring real money and world quality entertainment to North Devon.
