It is, perhaps, the most famous and well known passage of any piece of music in the world - the dramatic "d-d-d-daaa" that opens Beethoven's mighty 5th Symphony. And this great work can be heard as the climax of North Devon Sinfonia's next concert at Grenville College, Bideford, on Saturday , February 7 at 7.30pm. And the great tunes don't stop there. The concert opens with Verdi's Force of Destiny Overture, with a rousing introduction giving way to more beautiful and familiar melodies, including that now immortalised by its use in the Stella Artois adverts. Between these corner stones of the classical repertoire, the orchestra will be performing Debussy's enchanting Nocturnes ensuring that this truly is a concert not to be missed! The orchestra is excited to return to Bideford after a very well received concert last year to a full auditorium and this concert follows hot on the heels of the orchestra's hugely successful concert in the Two Moors Festival, when they joined forces with professional musicians and a choir of 140 in Elgar's Dream of Gerontius. Tickets for the Bideford concert can now be purchased from the box office (01598 710434) or www.northdevonsinfonia.org.uk. North Devon Sinfonia was formed in 2004 .
