HOSPICE HOOTENANNY is the name of an exciting charity extravaganza of old time and bluegrass music in Torrington on Saturday, June 14.Some top performers of the genre will be playing for free to help raise money for the North Devon Hospice.Organisers Martin and Marianne Lucas of the Wildwood Mountain Music Club believe it is the first time so many American-style old time, roots and bluegrass musicians have gathered in North Devon for what amounts to a mini festival.The evening will see a stunning showcase of talent at the Plough Arts Centre from 7pm, featuring Kate Lissauer and the Buffalo Gals, the Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys, Carrivick Sisters and Cloudy in the West.There is also an afternoon old time and bluegrass session at the Black Horse in Torrington from 2.30pm.A shape note singing workshop with experienced teacher Cath Tyler will be held at the Plough at 10.30am.
