Head for BGT (Birdman’s Got talent!) heats in Ilfracombe this Sunday.

A TEENAGE keyboard player who is as at home playing the music of punk legends The Clash as the classical works of Chopin, is hoping versatility will give him wings this weekend.

Noel Grimmitt from Ilfracombe hopes to win through to the final of this year’s Birdman’s Got Talent! competition when he takes part in the heats this Sunday at Buddy’s Live Lounge in the High Street.

The auditions start at 1pm and the event is open to all ages, who are invited to go along, cheer their favourites and help them through to the final at Southwest Birdman on the pier on Sunday, July 29.

Noel, who studies at Ilfracombe Arts College, has been playing keyboard since he was six-years-old and says he loves all types of music – he is currently the keyboard player for local punksters Falling Apart and aims to make a career as a professional musician.

“We have a great selection of contestants and performers this year with singers, dancers and musical types who all want to showcase their talents before a live audience,” said organiser Greg Schofield of Ilfracombe Round Table.

Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children or concessions, with all net proceeds going to charity and local good causes via Ilfracombe Round Table.
