Saturday, August 9 promises to be an evening of epic proportions at The Underground in Barnstaple. One venue, seven bands, free sweets - it's a recipe for success. it's a recipe for beautiful mayhem. With bands beginning at 6pm, and running right through to 11pm, Chew La Bouche promises to be an evening to remember.North Devon DIY promoters Chew The Stereo and Fermez La Bouche have joined forces to create a bi-headed indie-rock goliath that plans to bring in some of the best underground musical talent from across the UK, while showcasing Barnstaple's ever vibrant music scene. The two sets of promoters have been running club nights independently in Barnstaple for more than a year, and have put on a wealth of local talent as well as given local audiences the chance to see new bands from all over the South West and beyond. North Devon has a vibrant scene that it can be proud of, but we're tired of the same bands playing to the same people," a spokesman said. "We're tired of the up and coming UK talent not venturing down here when we have the facilities. So we thought we'd put on a mini-festival."We have compiled a line up of national talent peppered with some of the best local bands, as well as local DJs, in a bid to promote the North Devon music scene."Chew La Bouche is proudly an all ages event.Bands will include:KASMSwww.myspace.com/kasmsScratchy, fractured, female-fronted indie rock from London, featuring Rory Brattwell (ex-Test Icicles).
