John Doyle is an ex-patriot Dubliner, living for many years now in the United States, where with Liz Carroll he has performed for President Obama and the US Congress, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional World Album. Influenced from his early years by not only Celtic performers such as Paul Brady and Dick Gaughan, but English folk artists such as Nic Jones, Martin Carthy, Richard Thompson and The Watersons, he is acknowledged as one of the finest guitarists in Irish music. He is also a superb interpreter of traditional songs, and is increasingly heralded as an excellent writer of songs concerning Irish emigration. Regularly touring throughout America, Europe and Ireland, until very recently his touring in the UK has been more or less confined to Scotland, so Shammick Acoustic says it is privileged to present this amazing and charismatic musician and singer. There is support from local performers Dave and Bill Rodgers and Pam 'n' Al as well as Bruce Gomersall from Oxfordshire. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Tickets from www.wegottickets.com\/ShammickAcoustic, Pets' Pantry or the Pack o' Cards in Combe Martin.
