The Gallery Sessions at the Queen's Theatre inBarnstaple begin 2009 with the folk/rock musician Boo Hewerdine today (Wednesday).Boo was a founder member of the 1980s cult band The Bible, and since then he has become a successful solo artist and songwriter with five solo albums to his name -Ignorance in 1992, Baptist Hospital in 1996, Thanksgiving in 1998, Anon in 2002, Harmonograph in 2006, and more recently two mini albums Toy Box No 1 and No 2 in 2008.Boo has also established a parallel career as a songwriter having penned hits for Natalie Imbruglia, Mel C, and KD Lang. And since 1994 he has worked as folk artist Eddi Reader's musical director. One of the resulting songs Bell, Book and Candle was used on ITV's Emmerdale during the climactic award winning death scene of the much loved character Trisha.A good friendship with author Nick Hornby also led to Boo writing the film score for the hit movie adaptation of the book Fever Pitch, starring Colin Firth.The show starts at 8pm and tickets are priced at £8.
