TOP Americana bluegrass star Valerie Smith and her band Liberty Pike will be appearing at the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington on Friday, July 25."We're very, very privileged to have been asked by the British Bluegrass Association to host and promote the evening - quality of this kind is hard to come by," said organisers Martin and Marianne Lucas, who run the Wildwood Flower Mountain Music Club for North Devon fans of old time and bluegrass sounds.In addition to Valerie and her band the evening will feature award winning singer, songwriter and outstanding fiddle player Becky Buller - an artiste whose original songs have been recorded by Rhonda Vincent, Mark Newton, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver amongst others. She is one of the most exciting, talented and accomplished fiddler players on the scene.Accolades for Valerie include appearing at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association and a Grammy nomination for her part with the Ralph Stanley "Clinch Mountain Sweethearts" project.The evening at the Plough in Torrington begins at 8.30pm.
