The News is Read with Charlotte Green this Sunday (September 25)
One of the most iconic newsreaders of her generation brings her new show to The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington on Sunday.
Charlotte Green will be well known to many after 25 years of reading the news on BBC Radio Four and she now presents Charlotte Green’s Culture Club for Classic FM and reads the classified football results on BBC Radio 5Live.
Her debut show The News is Read draws on her new autobiography of the same name and recounts life on and off-air, offering a fascinating and often hilarious look behind the scenes of radio.
She alludes to stories such as being affectionately known by fisherman as ‘the fisherman’s friend’ because of the time she spent reading the Shipping News.
In a recent Radio Times Favourite Voice on Radio poll her voice came second, after Kirsty Young and she once hit the headlines for cracking up laughing while reading the news during BBC Radio Four’s The Today Programme.
The show is at 4pm.
