New drama and dance workshops are now on offer for people with learning disabilities
A North Devon arts company that offers creative opportunities for people with learning disabilities is celebrating two big funding successes.
Many Directions, which has been running regular drama, dance and film workshops for nearly 20 years, has been given money from the Peoples’ Health Lottery and Sport England to set up three new groups this month, with a fourth group starting in the new year.
Drama, dance and movement groups are being held on Tuesdays at St Johns Church Hall in Newport, Barnstaple, while a dance and movement group is being held on Wednesday afternoons at the Lantern in Ilfracombe.
Project co-ordinator Helen Venn said: “We’re delighted that all our hard work over the years continues to be recognised.
“This funding will allow us to expand and develop our provision.”
All the groups are open to people of all levels of ability.
“Some of our members are very physical and active, while others are wheelchair users, or non-verbal – but all our activities are structured to involve everyone,” added Helen.”
