The next three weekends will see a variety of floral and craft festivals at local churches and other venues.

FLOWER festivals are sprouting up across North Devon in the next two weeks.

From Friday through to Sunday Oare Church near Lynton hosts its Flower Weekend with the theme Colours of Exmoor. The church and gardens are open from 10am-6pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 12noon on Sunday after the 11am service to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation.

The following weekend and after a break of nine years, Saint Andrew's Church at Alwington will once again be filled with flowers and crafts.

From Friday, July 19 to Sunday July 21, from 10am to 7.30pm at the 13th century church there will be a flower and craft festival with the theme An English Country Garden.

As well as the flower arrangements there will also be examples of some 20 different crafts, made by local people.

St Mary Magdalene Church at Taddiport in Torrington is holding a Flower Festival on July 27/28 from 10am to 6pm, with cream teas available plus the chance to view the new belfry screen.

Shebbear and Buckland Filleigh Flower Show hosts its 60th Diamond Anniversary Show at Shebbear Village Hall and Primary School on Saturday, July 27. It will be opened at 2.15pm by Sarah Chesters of RHS Rosemoor.

Events include a family dog show, car boot sale, display of classic motorcycles, beer tent, children's fancy dress, side shows, teas and there is a clay pigeon shoot from 4pm. All inquiries phone Geraldine Slade on 01409 281426.
