Don’t miss Helen North at Shammick Acoustic on Saturday, October 24

A fine singer and writer of maritime-influenced songs, Helen North will be this Saturday’s concert guest at Shammick Acoustic in the Pack O’ Cards, Combe Martin.

Helen began writing and singing songs in her teens for the amusement of family and friends, and has only recently begun to share them with a wider public through the folk clubs and open stages around her home in Kent.

Her guitar travels with her wherever she goes, and her carefully crafted lyrics reflect her love of the sea and her understanding of its colours and characters.

She has a beautiful and true voice, and a knowledge of musical forms which is evident in the breadth of styles in her song-writing.

She may not be well-known – yet – but she is increasingly being booked at festivals and clubs, including 2013’s Sea Ilfracombe, when she proved a real knock-out to everyone who heard her, able to have her audience in gales of laughter at one moment, and in rapt attention for a more reflective song the next.

Helen has recently released her first album, Shifting Sands, packed full of seaside goodness.

With support from local and visiting performers, the concert starts at 8pm.

Tickets are £8 at the door, or £7 in advance from, or from the Pack O’ Cards and Pets’ Pantry, High Street, Combe Martin.
