Join the keen-eyed household name for more witty observations on daily life as she launches her new book on Sunday, April 6.
An Evening with Pam Ayres is coming to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple on Sunday (April 6) as the much-loved poet celebrates the launch of her new book You Made Me Late Again!
Her eye for detail is as evident as ever in her new poems; with subjects ranging from wishing your husband was more dashing, to becoming a granny for the first time.
Observant, witty and poignant in equal measure as she homes in on everyday life - from exploding wardrobes, to knowing you must eat more fruit, to the dog being afraid of the toaster….
Delightfully illustrated, most of the poems in You Made Me Late Again! are brand new, but it also features several firm favourites from her stage shows, published for the first time, such as The Make-Up Lady and Tippy Tappy Feet.
Pam has been a writer, broadcaster and entertainer for nearly 40 years, since winning the talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1975, and she has become an audience favourite for her sharp perception of the comic detail of everyday life.
She is author of several bestselling poetry collections, including With These Hands, Surgically Enhanced and The Works and a memoir, The Necessary Aptitude. Pam performs her solo stage show annually to sell-out audiences throughout Britain and around the world. In 2004 she was awarded the MBE.
The show is at 5pm and tickets are available from 01271 324242 or visit www.northdevontheatres.org.uk.
