Laugh, cry, be amazed and entertained as Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest celebrates its 10th birthday this June. From Thursday, June 23, to Sunday, June 26, there will be a huge variety of theatre, from serious drama and comedy to dance and family-friendly shows at venues around the town. This year is the biggest yet, with 38 different companies from the UK and beyond offering more than 120 performances in four days. Held in conjunction with North Devon Theatres Trust, the Queens Theatre features three venues, then there is St Annes Arts and Community Centre, plus the Baptist Hall, as well as five-minute fringe tasters at the Barnstaple Coffee Shop. For a major play, sit back as James Elston stages Krapps Last Tape, celebrating the 110th anniversary of Irish playwright, poet and novelist Samuel Beckett. This play forces its audience to question who they are, where they are going, and why they are going there. At the other end, Nose Business by Clown Noir is an hour-long physical comedy that combines clowning, storytelling and circus skills. Joe Bloodworth is a homeless old clown who busks for money. Yet the audience does not go to see his skills, they go to listen to the stories of his past For the full Barnstaple Fringe programme and to get tickets, go to http:\/\/www.theatrefest.co.uk , call 01271 324242 or drop in to the Queens and Landmark Theatres.
