FOLLOWING sell-out tasting dinners for French, Spanish and, most recently, German wines, James Duckett at The Old Custom House has something different planned for Tuesday, June 2.He is playing host to Sami Ghosn, who, with his brother, Ramzi, is the second generation of his family to run the Massaya estate in the Bekaa Valley in the Lebanon.Sami comes to Barnstaple courtesy of Christopher Piper Wines and he will be introducing his wines covering a range of vintages, all matched to Lebanese, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food lovingly prepared by James and his team in the Old Custom House Kitchen.Dishes include grilled quail with pomegranate sauce and rose petal sorbet; grilled garlic and chilli marinated aubergine with goats' cheese parfait; slowly cooked lamb and fried lamb's liver with almond and fig sauce; and chocolate apricot tart with arak and fennel sorbet.The seven-course tasting dinner, including wine costs £48 a head.
