An evening of contemporary folk comes to St Anne’s Arts & Community Centre in Barnstaple on Sunday with award-winner Charlie Dore.

Charlie is one of the UK’s most respected singer-songwriters and will be sharing songs from her new album Dark Matter.

She will be teaming up with her long-standing friend, multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman of Steeleye Span.

The evening promises a fast moving show as the pair swap guitars, piano, mandolin, harmonium, ukulele and autoharp as well as stories, banter and versions of songs she’s written for others.

Charlie has roots in Devon as her family on her father’s side, the Maunds, have for three generations run The Exe Valley Fishery.

A generation further back, she discovered her great grandmother Eleanora Maund was a suffragette, and is mentioned as refusing to sign the national census until women were given the vote.

Tickets for this event are available from 01805 624624.
