COMEDY fans are looking forward to the next instalment of laughter when Barnstaple's Comedy Club returns to the Riverfront Cafe on the Strand, on Friday night (February 1).Organisers have put together another enticing line-up of stand-up comedians, as well as soulful and funky sounds by DJ Wendy May.A change in the bill means that headlining comedian Ian Cognito has been rescheduled for the May show. Instead, gag artist Martin Soan will headline with an extraordinary use of everyday objects including U-bends, head gaskets and electronic drills that is sure to amuse and amaze.Martin - a young Time Out award winner and now middle-aged Perrier Award nominee - defies definition as anything else other than a master of prop comedy. The Face described him as "Tommy Cooper on acid", while Jonathan Ross billed him as "Jean Cocteau meets Tom and Jerry".Support for the evening is provided by Pat Gallagher.Doors open 8pm until late. Advance tickets £7 available on 07870 954089 or from the Riverfront Cafe.Looking ahead to Friday, February 29, Brian Damage and Krysstal are in the house, with support by Bentley.
