A Barnstaple songwriter is bidding to make his name in the music industry with help from the founder of hit band EMF. Simon Groves has a catalogue of 180 songs and a new album Song Seller he is keen to get out to a wider audience. Now he has help, thanks to his new manager Nikki Brownson and her step-son Derry, also known as Derry Brownson from 1990s indie band EMF. Nikki is working to promote Simon and they hope Derry can help to make contacts in the national music industry. Derry lives in North Devon and still performs as EMFs singer and keyboard player. Simon said: I have been writing since 2010 and now have several strong songs. Nikki has been a tower of strength and has supported me throughout the making of this album. I am so grateful to Nikki for all help and encouragement. Nikki, who runs Shadowmedia, added: I have a feeling he is going to do well. I think someone is going to pick him up. Simons genre is indie and his influences include Kate Bush, The Beatles, Elvis Costello and Nick Drake.
