Barnstaple Young Generation bring the Andrew Lloyd Webber hit to the Queens Theatre from Thursday to Saturday, May 29-31.

BARNSTAPLE Young Generation will be the first to bring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End classic musical Cats to North Devon with a three day at the Queens Theatre this week.

From Thursday (May 29) until Saturday (May 31), there will be 7pm evening performances plus a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The young cast have been rehearsing and preparing for the show since January, working with renowned choreographer Melanie La Tragna on the production, who along with assistants Lauren Tithecott, Evie Gates and Lucy Hevingham has created a non-stop dance-fest for North Devon audiences.

“Under the choreography of Melanie and her team North Devon audiences are in for a treat,” said director Jake Goodenough.

“The kids haven’t just been working hard at perfecting the dance and production numbers either. The vocal score is very demanding as the show is sung throughout with no dialogue. We are lucky to have Graham Ruhleman as our musical director and vocal coach and he has achieved some fantastic results.”

Barnstaple Young Generation is the youth section of Barnstaple Musical Comedy Society.

“It is great to get the rare opportunity to perform an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, and being granted a licence to perform the show is down to the high calibre our group has a reputation for,” added group secretary Fliss Jonkheere.

The cast have also benefited from a Cats Performance workshop taken by Professional Dancer and Cats Cast member Gavin Eden who played Mungojerry in the professional production.
