New book will recall living memories of Barnstaple from the 1930s to the present day.
Barnstaple author Avril Stone is appealing for photographs and living memories of the town for her latest book.
It will be different to her earlier volumes and based largely on pictures from the 1930s to the present, with snippets of memories about key places, events and people for each decade in the town’s history.
Examples might include schools or businesses that have now disappeared, the demise of the railway, demolition of the cattle market, the old North Devon Infirmary and events such as the fair or May Day on Castle Green.
