Four-day village event starts on Thursday.

APPLEDORE is getting ready for a host of summer fun this week with the start of the village’s four-day summer festival.

The event kicks off on Thursday with a quiz night at the Royal pub from 8pm in aid of BookRelief UK.

On Saturday, the ‘Big Gig’ will be held in the Churchfields car park, with live music from 12noon until 7pm.

Music will be followed by comedy with Andy White and Andrew Watts in the Appledore Social Hall from 7.30pm.

On Sunday, families can enjoy a pirate family fun day at Anchor Park from 11am-4pm.

Throughout the festival, there will be stalls, acts and buskers everyday between 10am and 4pm.

Historian Terry Bailey will lead two history walks on Friday and Saturday at 11am and 2pm, starting at the Appledore Library.
