GOLDCOAST Oceanfest organisers got Barnstaple rocking ahead of this weekend's 10-year anniversary surf, sea and sand event.Friday night performers, Croyde band the 308s, took to the "stage" aboard a Stagecoach bus to give the town a taste of what's to come in an action packed weekend of top live music and beach sports at the festival arena in Croyde. The 308s - bassist Charlie Charlesworth, drummer Ed Holmes, guitarist Bob Marquiss and singer Rob Whitney - played live on the top deck of the bus the band is named after. The guys did two circuits of the town in the early evening sunshine to remind people to get their tickets for the event, which starts on Friday with the North Devon Gazette-sponsored School's Day."Tickets are selling like hot cakes and we may even sell out before the event for the first time ever," said co-organiser Shaun Latham."If you have mates who are sitting on the fence give them a shove our way and make sure they are part of what is lining up to be our best quality production by far to date."Shaun was on board the bus with fellow organiser, brother Warren, telling people what to expect from this year's festival. This year's headliner is Donovan Frankenreiter from Laguna Beach, California. "He is without doubt the biggest name to play Goldcoast," said Warren. As well as the music, festival-goers can look forward to beach sports, competitions and a trade village with many stands at the event, which falls on the solstice weekend this year. And there will be plenty of food and drink to tuck into while enjoying the entertainment. Bus operators will be running a specially-extended bus service from Barnstaple to Croyde for the event. It's called the 508. But will the 308s be changing their name to mark the occasion? Not a chance! For a detailed overview of the entire weekend's events, Friday through Sunday, including all beach sports action and music line up, visit www.goldcoastoceanfest.co.uk
