Surprise local gig for well known rock ‘n’ roll band

TOP rock ‘n’ roll and country band The Sundowners will be playing an unexpected gig at The Cedars in Barnstaple this Thursday (March 3.)

The band, who have supported greats such as Jerry Lee Lewis and Sonny Burgess, will be the surprise guests at Barnstaple Rock ‘n’ Roll Club.

Club organiser Bill James is good friends with the band members and was delighted to receive a call out of the blue offering their services.

“As they were in Plymouth on Friday, they called and offered to do something for us on Thursday,” he said.

“It will be a real up and close and personal gig with their fans. Lee Gocher, who runs the band, is reckoned on the circuit as one of the finest guitarists in the country.

“They play a mix of country and rock ‘n’ roll, with a lot of their own material plus the likes of Johnny Cash.”

The event runs from 7.30pm until late, with support from DJ Midnight Shift. Tickets are 5 at the door or call Bill for more information on 07899 701498.
