Sunday racing at Ideford Arch.

The first pony races of the new season take place at the South Devon point to point at Ideford Arch on Sunday, January 30.

First race is off at 11am and the second at 11.20am. Ponies have been entered from all over the south and see last year’s championship winner Hannah Welch ride her new pony, national champion Charles Owen series winner Total Eclipse in the 148 cm race.

Hannah will be up against the prolific Tarka (Bryony Frost) with seven running in all. In the opener, the 138 race, Hannah has given up the ride on 10 time winner last season Bronze Lawrance to Donald Comer-Calder who takes on six opponents including G Whizz. Victoria Sleep returns to the sport, after a year off, with a ride in each race.

Please note that all Devon and Cornwall entries will close on SATURDAY, irrespective of whether the races are held saturday, Sunday or Monday. This is because all entries should be made by post and there is no post Sunday or BH Monday.

On Sunday decs will be 9.15-10.15am, course walk with Mr R Darke after the briefing at 9.30am PROMPT in the secretary’s tent - tack inspection starts 10.25am with Mrs A Darke. As this is the first meeting of the season please make sure your tack complies with the regulations. Saddles may be weighed.
