Success for the next generation of Bideford boxers

North Devon Gazette

Kai Avery kept up winning ways with his new club Bideford with his second win against Matt Peters from St Just in his home show. Â

Avery started fast and aggressive, landing right hands and left hooks in the first round. The same work rate continued in the second with Avery on the front foot, producing scoring shots to the head and body. Â

Avery went for the stoppage in the last, landing some solid punches but Peters proved durable by making it to the final bell, when the Bideford boxer got the unanimous points win. Â

Harley Pugh made his competitive debut against St Austell’s Casey Ryan. Pugh was first to the punch with fast straight shots. In the second, Pugh added the right uppercut into it with great success. The last round saw both lads fighting toe-to-toe, giving there all but it was Pugh who had the upper hand throughout, gaining a unanimous points win.Â
