THE last instalment of this year's Kwik Cricket Festivals proved a great success and saw a high standard of competition.It was the turn of Year 4 pupils from Pilton College feeder schools to take part in the North Devon Gazette sponsored event at Barnstaple and Pilton Cricket Club.Six schools - Yeo Vale, Our Lady's, Bratton Fleming, Fremington, Pilton Bluecoats and Goodleigh - took part, with a total of 15 teams and 140 youngsters competing.Pilton Bluecoats 1 and Our Lady's 1 both won all their group games to reach the final, with Pilton managing to take the honours on this occasion.Students from Pilton College acted as umpires and helpers for the event. Organisers Martin Brice, under-11s coach for the cricket club and Wendy Mcquillan, school sports co-ordinator at the college, said it had proved a great success this year with more schools taking part.
