BIDEFORD under-15s have enjoyed a mixed start to their season.Their first game home to an understrength Braunton resulted in a six-wicket win. Captain Alastair Clements led the way with an elegant 75no, assisted by a belligerent 55 from Stuart Allin and they were helped by nearly 40 extras! Toby Lockhead took 2 for 22 for Braunton.Braunton's response got off to a flyer with Tom Mitchum putting on 70 for the first wicket with Barney Huxtable. But once Mitchum(35) and Huxtable (34) departed the rest could only muster 22 between them.Rob Hill with 3-12 was the pick of Bideford's bowlers, assisted by Ahmet Mutlu 2-40 and Jacob Glover's leg spin 2-16.The next game away to Filleigh was a different story and brought the side back to earth with a bang.Batting first, Bideford only scored 45, with 20 of those extras!. No-one scored more than four runs. Jason Head was the Filleigh bowling star, taking 4-8 in three overs. Ieuan Davies 15no and Joe Witheridge 24no knocked off the runs in seven overs.
