Barnstaple Swimming Club’s U19 and U15 water polo teams played their first Devon League games of the new season following the summer break. The U19s travelled to Exeter and held out for more than half of the first quarter before conceding three quick goals. Their rustiness showed in hitting the bar and ballooning several clear shooting opportunities over.

They conceded two more goals early in the second quarter before Corey Lawson and Peter Bull struck back to end the first half 5-2.

Matt Bull then swapped goal keeping duties and added to further goals from Jack Sherbourne and Corey to close the gap to 5-7 entering the final quarter 7-5.

Exeter’s England International Jack Skerrett added two more goals and team mate Rob Ashman another to stretch Exeter’s lead to 10-5 before Haydn Lawson and Jack Sherbourne pulled Barnstaple back to a final 10-8 defeat.

The Under 15s hosted Newton Abbott and won 15-6, with three goals apiece from Tom Hutchens, Torin Lawson and Rob Squires,two each to Will Roberts and Sam Wordley and one each to Tom Clarke and Will Hutchens.
