BARNSTAPLE U15s had a repeat of last year’s first round of the Devon Cup – same team, same ground and same victory!

Games against Newton Abbot are almost always epics and this was no exeption.

Both teams played some fantastic rugby with the power of the Barum pack eventually winning the hard-fought forward battle.

Barum managed to keep the classy Newton backs down to one try. The final score was 29-5 to Barum with tries from Nat Bayet, Josh Sluman, Andy Black and one from new winger Luke Knight, Conversions were kicked by Barney Meadowcroft.

Bideford 1U4s got the better of Barum 15-5 in a derby encounter thanks to a Josh Lindo hat-trick.

Barum were behind after five minutes, but responded with a try from Zach Venner.

It was Bideford however who showed the most desire and they scored again before the break to make it 5-10.

Barum made changes at half-time but could not find a way through.

It was Bideford who came through to complete the scoring just before the end.

Barnstaple U13s wasted no time taking control of the contact area to build a platform for an excellent performance against their Bideford counterparts.

Winger Ed May nearly provided Barum with their first try but was prevented by an excellent tackle from Noah Stevens.

Barum quickly won back possession and Nathan Fouche broke free to score the first try in a 56-0 win.

Try scorers were M Daly, B Simpson, J Anderson, J Slee, N Fouche and D Downing. Conversions made by J Slee and T Squire.

Barnstaple U9s played two matches against Bideford losing the first by 40-15.

In the second match, Barnstaple came storming back. There was some fantastic play, with tremendous tackles, mauling and running with the ball. Sam Beck just missed out on a try after a brilliant run. Man of the Match was Christopher Loat. The final score was 20-15 to Barnstaple with tries by Ellis Rees, Ollie Kelly and Henry Huxtable.

Bideford U8s played three matches against Barnstaple.

Bideford Lions lost 20-15 against Barnstaple Greens.

Bideford Sharks lost 25-10 against Barnstaple Pringles. The try scores for Bideford Sharks were, Sam Abbott and Leon Crosby.

Bideford Lions then beat Barnstaple Stags 30-15. The try scores for Bideford Lions were Adam Leworthy, Matthew Lewis, Jacob Stevenson and Samuel Picillo.

Barnstaple U7s won one match 35-30 and drew the other 30-30 in a double header against Bideford.

Game two was drawn by a late Bideford try.
