ALL three Bideford Rifle Club teams won their opening matches in the Kynoch Shield competition run by the county association.The A team recorded the highest score of any team in this round with a 597/600 total to beat Fonthill by 10 points.Bideford B were 99 points clear of their opponents Pinhoe B with 593/600 and the C team also had a big win, by 89 points, over Pinhoe C.The Kynoch is for teams of six, each shooter nominating a "start" figure and then endeavouring to shoot a score which, added to the "start," gives a score of 100.Seven of the 18 Bideford members achieved the magic 100 - Andy Darch, Martin Morgan, Pete Thomson and John Hutchings (Bideford A), Ross Prior and John Morgan (Bideford B) and Michael Coombs (Bideford C).The eventual Devon winner will shoot for overall victory against Cornwall's representatives. Bideford last won the overall title eight years ago.
