TORRINGTON 2nd XV defeated Bideford Nomads 19-0 in a Merit Table derby clash at Donnacroft.Wet and sticky conditions stopped both teams playing running rugby for long! Richard Huxtable opened the scoring with a try after five minutes, Nick Booth converting, then winger Carlton Cockwill took a try in the corner.Midway through the first half, stand-off Steve Butler-Jones went in under the sticks. Booth again added the extras.The second half saw chance after chance go a begging with the conditions playing a big part.Pick of the crop for Torrie were Ollie Kite and James Kendrew.Torrie entertain Tavistock 3rd XV this Saturday.l BIDEFORD U14s showed great promise at times before going down 29-0 against Torquay.Although Torquay had the bigger forwards, Bideford were equal to the challenge.Torquay scored two quick tries, one of which saw their full-back run the length of the pitch, and at half time Bideford trailed 17-0..Bideford would not give in and continued to show great handling skills in the backs with Ben Pearn, Thomas Westaway and Fraser Smith, one of five U13s in the side, leading the way.Torquay scored two more tries.
