A TOUGH bout saw the experienced Tommy Herd get his career with his new club Combe Martin ABC off to a flying start on Saturday. He was on the bill at the Penstowe Manor Dinner Boxing Show at Kilkhampton in Cornwall and was matched against Lee Coutts of the Pilgrims Club in Plymouth. Both gave their all, using craft and experience to give the crowd a high octane display of boxing, with Tommy getting the final judges' decision in what proved a contender for the bout of the evening. He is back in action again this Saturday, alongside fellow Combe Martin senior squad members Valentin Bumbul and Joe Davies at the ABA Senior Novice Championships in Weymouth.Hopes are high at the new club, which has more seniors coming through the ranks and is also building a strong junior squad. There are three training sessions a week and new members are always welcome, including those with no previous training or boxing experience.
