TITANS netball team were in need of big win in the South West regional league and pulled it off away to Bristol side Cosmos.

With only the bare seven players, Titans had to work their socks off, but their determination and team spirit saw them through to a 48-41 victory.

Lauren Bawden made her debut at goal attack with captain Lorraine Beel at her side as wing attack. Shooter Louise Lathwell was suffering with flu, but managed to keep going and secure the vital shots to keep Titans' noses in front.

Titans led 16-11 after the first quarter, with player of the match Louise Swann pulling off fine interceptions to link up with Kerri Wall and Beel in the centre court and place secure balls into the shooting circle.

Titans extended their lead to 27-19 at half-time, but Cosmos came back to narrow the gap to 36-31 going into the final 15 minutes. They started the final quarter brightly and wing defence Rebecca Manley stepped up a gear to pull off a series of interceptions to feed the ball into the attacking area and the North Devon side was able to pull away again.

Titans take on Bristol-based side Weston at North Molton Sports Club this Saturday at 11.30am.
