TITANS put up a brave fight against Swindon-based side Lawn in the South West Regional Netball League, but were caught heavily in the last 15 minutes of play to lose 55-40.

Titans started slowly and were trailing by six goals within 10 minutes. But a surge of interceptions by player-of-the-match Julie Fay at centre court enabled Titans to come off the first quarter trailing only 14- 10.

The second quarter was by far Titans' best and they drew back to level terms at half-time 23-23.

Long range shooting by Louise Lathwell kept Titans in touch and errors crept into Lawn's game.

But Lawn made four changes at half time while Titans had only the bare seven players and could make no substitutions. Missed shots and tiredness crept into the North Devon side's game.

Six goals behind going into the final quarter, Titans were still in with a fighting chance, but Lawn then hit them hard with some with sharp shooting.

It will be the clash of the two North Devon sides this weekend, when Titans host Carol Anne at Chulmleigh on Saturday with a 11.30am start.
