BIDEFORD Amateur Boxing Club prospect Billy Butler chalked up his third win in three fights when he beat Saltash opponent H Walsh in Plymouth.

Oozing with confidence, Butler controlled the first round with crisp straight punches.

Walsh could not match Butler for skills, but that did not stop him trying. He applied relentless pressure, but was too often on the end of the Bideford boxer’s jab. Butler stepped the pace up for a cracking finish that earned him a unanimous points victory.

Topping the bill on the same show was Bideford’s Ricky Dymond, who had a stern test against former Western Counties NACYP champion Kyle Gargett. Dymond rose to the test in a bout that was a tactical affair, with nothing to pick between two skilfull boxers. He tried to push the bout in the third round, but Gargett’s experience took him through on a tight points decision.

Soane Coysh challenged for the Western Counties senior novice final against Empire’s T Murphy.

He gave his all in a thrilling contest, landing some cracking body shots, which his opponent did well to stand up to.

But after three rounds it was Murphy who took the verdict.

All three boxers are hoping to appear on the Bideford club’s own dinner show on November 25. For tickets call Dick Kersey 07841846552
