Tarka Ladies Cricket Club are enjoying a hugely successful season throughout their youth ranks. The North Devon cricket club-based girls entered the Youth League for the first time and with the tremendous support and backing of the nine clubs in North Devon with youth sections, they have performed very well. They have won the U13 Devon softball competition and travelled to Newport in the second round of the U13 ECB hardball competition, where they lost narrowly to a National-winning Welsh. The U15 girls, captained by Lauren Bowden and Vice Lydia Clements are through to the third round of the ECB hardball competition, yet the majority of their players are still U13s. As a result, more Tarka girls than ever are being selected for the County side. Min Muir, Kate Williams, Grace Heard, Daisy Meadowcroft (Capt), Eluned Davies, Kinna Yewdall and Rose Ball all played for the U12 Devon side which has beaten Wales twice this year. Lydia Clements and Lauren Bowden play for the U15 County side and Carmen Clements, Daisy Meadowcroft, Morgan Harrison Hooton, Rose Ball and Eluned Davies have all played a big part in the U13 County matches this week. The U13s won against Somerset and played out an exciting 215-run tie against Wales over the weekend at West Buckland School. There will also be a girls match day in August at North Devon Cricket Club, before once again training over the winter.
