Barnstaple Amateur Boxing Club picked up three wins when they travelled to South Devon at the weekend.
Three of Barnstaple Amateur Boxing Club’s fighters took to the squared circle on Saturday night in Exmouth.
It was success all round as all three came away as winners.
Ben Stone was awarded the trophy for Boxer of the Night after beating Royal Marine Novice champion James Caldecourt in a three round thriller at middleweight level.
Both fighters went out aggressively, with Caldecourt’s strong start cancelled out by some neat defensive footwork.
Stone was able to turn defence into attack and take initiative from the end of the first round and went on to get a well deserved unanimous win in his best performance to date.
Junior figher Jacob Hooper opened the evening against Cambourne Boxer Mark Curnow.
The Barnstaple boy took control early on with good jabbing to set up some big punches on the way to a dominating win.
The final match of the evening saw welterweight Liam Laird up against Exmouth’s Shannon Willy.
Laird set the tempo from the off and did not let it drop, keeping Willy on the back foot for the majority of the three rounds on his way to a unanimous win.
The Barum boxer showed a return to form in time for the England Boxing Elite Championships in April.
