YOUNG sporting stars from across Torridge were honoured in the district council's annual Sporting Stars presentation evening at The Elizabethan, Westward Ho! Around 90 people attended the evening, which came at the end of a series of sports programmes organised by the council for young people and run throughout the school holidays.The event recognises and rewards the achievements of the children participating in these activities and also thanks sports coaches for their work throughout the year.More than 60 nominations were received and a team of judges chose final 15 winners. The awards were presented by champion table tennis player Chris Brown and council leader James Morrish.Winners were: drive and determination - Carl Daniel and Jake Partridge; all rounder - Alison Mower, Cirby McCormack and Summer Whitely; effort & enthusiasm - Ben Prouse, Hannah Lang and Tom Lane; gifted & talented - Mark Percival and Charlotte Broadhead; great attitude - Conor Pettifer, Molly Watts and Alfie Douse.
