Sporting stars joined local golfers for a celebrity golf competition at Saunton in aid of the North Devon Sports Foundation.
Names such as Marcus Trescothick and Andy Caddick from the world of cricket, golfers Craig Defoy and Brian Waites, rugby players Phil DeGlanville and Matt Perry and footballers Bruce and Neil Rioch, Steve Staunton, Peter McFarland and Colin Gibson appeared among the list of 23 teams taking part.
The second annual competition of its kind raised funds to continue the work of the Sports Foundation, which raises funds to help talented local sportsmen and women of all kinds to further their careers.
Team winners were the Williams Arms from Braunton – Jon Squires, Alan Petersen, Martin James and Gloucester cricketer Martin Ball.
They received their prize from North Devon surfer and athlete Lucy Campbell, one of the young people to have been helped by the North Devon Sports Foundation.
After the golf, 260 guests sat for dinner at the Saunton Sands Hotel and funds were boosted by an auction, raffle and casino.
The counting is continuing, but it is certain that the event has raised several thousands of pounds.
