THE final call has gone for athletes and sports fans to relish the challenge as the GoldCoast Oceanfest returns to Croyde on the weekend of June 19 and 20.
Over the past 12 years the sports and music festival has become synonymous with hosting world class events and showcasing top athletes who inspire others to raise their game and have a go.
For the triathletes there is the Surf Aquathon on the Saturday, a "gentle" run, swim, run format, produced and hosted by the North Devon Tri Club and sanctioned by the British Triathlon.
To entice newcomers to the event, organisers will again offer a relay option, enabling surf lifesavers, swimmers and runners to pair up and enter as a team to try to beat the hardcore multi-sports athletes.
The popular sand based sports continue with the Parkdean Holidays Mid Summer Beach Volleyball Fiesta and the Thatcher's Gold Beach Soccer Cup Open, with entries welcome.
Saturday will host eight women's soccer teams, with 12 men's teams competing on Sunday for the right to be crowned champions and take the coveted GoldCoast title.
For those who prefer watching to doing, the skate ramp in the GoldCoast arena hosts both pro demos and workshops. Anyone attending the festival will be able to participate in workshops on the midi ramp and receive coaching tips from some of the country's top riders.
Nearby, there will be regular demos from the Animal Bike Tour with former world champion trials rider Martyn Ashton and dirt jumper extraordinaire Sam Pilgrim providing a gravity-defying show.
Entry forms for sports events are online at www.goldcoastoceanfest.co.uk, as is the last batch of tickets, with less than a week left for online sales.
